Printable Pattern: Bir Saba Handkerchief (1940s-1950s)
A 6-page embroidery pattern featuring a handkerchief produced for the groom at a Bir Saba wedding, produced during the 1940s-1950s. The handkerchief traditionally had a loop in the center so that the groom can swing and swirl it while he leads the dabke dance line at his wedding. The embroider patterns are colorful, geometric and traditional designs known within the Bir Saba tribal communities.
The dress is in the collection of the Tiraz Centre (The Widad Kawar Collection), digitized with respect and permission to Ms. Kawar.
