Syrian Cotton Blend Fabric: "Safadiya"

$50.00

The second to last image is from the Hanan Munayyer Collection, Jerusalem woman’s thobe (1940s), and the last image is of a woman’s Safadiya — which are very rare to find in the museum.

Tatreez & Tea has ethically sourced Syrian fabric from an Aleppo-based family business. The family was first established in Almidan, Damascus in 1987. Since the war in 2011, it has become extremely difficult for the business to remain open, and they began importing the fabrics to Amman, Jordan. Tatreez & Tea works with a local Palestinian business to acquire and package the fabrics, as well as ship to the United States. The Syrian family takes pride in producing authentic Syrian fabrics using the same kinds of machines that their grandfather originally used in the start of their business. Tatreez & Tea has established a secure and legal supply chain in order to import these fabrics into the United States and support both the Syrian and Palestinian businesses, as well as the research endeavors of The Tatreez Institute (Tatreez & Tea).
